- Position Summary
The manual machinist is to help ensure the accuracy of mechanical fits of various equipment and are within the provided tolerances. They must also repair any issues that are discovered during the inspection process using various techniques.
- Key Responsibilities
Use different measuring instruments including but not limited to calipers, Micrometers, depth micrometers, dial bore gauges, gauge blocks and telescoping gauges.
Documenting measurements on the proper forums
Inspect bearings fits of different kinds of electric motors, pumps and, gear reducers
Bore and sleeve worn housings back into tolerance
Metalize worn bearing journals and turn to size
Machine and replace shafts from raw stock
Perform milling operations such as drilling, tapping, milling, and boring using vertical mills.
Perform lathe operations such as rough and finish turning, threading, boring, cutting tappers, drilling , tapping and grooving.
Machine parts per sample brought from customer
Reverse engineer broken parts to machine new
Make improvements to broken parts to help eliminate failures
Threading parts including standard and metric internal and external
Removal of broken bolts
Welding including ARC, MIG and TIG
Using hand tools such as band saws, belt sanders, hand grinders.
Aid mechanics in disassembly process
Balance rotating equipment

Accuracy and amount of rework
- Job Requirements
-High School diploma or GED required
-use of calipers and micrometers
Ability to indicated parts in on a mill and lathe with a 4 jaw chuck
Understanding of speeds and feeds
Ability to read and understand basic prints
Ability for basic milling operations such as drilling bolt holes and milling keyways.
Ability for basic turning operations such as turning various diameters to size and length.

– Monday thru Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm (After hours and weekend availability occasional when necessary)
